Dell Lube Pump

Print Post
Back in 2011 I had the bottom row of bones removed from my right wrist. Up to that time I was using my Dell Lube Pump made for me by Willis Gregory. I felt at the time I would never again be able to use it. I sold it to a friend and I was just able to buy it back at yesterday's match from him. I do plan to try and use it again so what I am now asking is anyone still using a lube pump no matter who might have made it. In the past I found having freshly lubed bullets did have an advantage for myself. I also had one made by Jerry Barnett I sold and I wouldn't mind buying back from someone on this site.

I have a Dell and a BW Darr, and have used both, but not on a regular basis. More of a just in case I run out basis.

The Dell pump made by W Gregory appears to be an exact copy of the original that I have, good work Willis.  Ledball

Ledball what lube are using in your lube pump. Myself I was using Dell59C that I also got from Willis back when I purchased my lube pump. I also found it to be one of the best for my own personal use.

Doesn't the Charlie Dell made pump bear an "acorn" trademark?

I am the proud possessor of three lube pumps on the Dell pattern, one direct from Charlie, one built locally from a set of parts gifted to me by Charlie, and one built by Willis with some leftover Dell parts and the rest provided by him.  Each gets its own lube formula and an insert for a specific bullet.  The only difficulty I’ve ever seen or had with one of these pumps has been in very cold weather when the lube just got too stiff to extrude properly.  Note that the 59c lube mentioned and a couple of my favorites, Emmert’s and Frog Guano are all relatively soft at normal range temperatures.

Hey Ledball, when are you going to come shoot with us at CSV again?  None of us are getting any younger! Can I bribe you with some H108??

BTW, do you know what became of Charlie’s little acorn stamp?  I don’t know where he kept it, but it always seemed handy when he wanted to mark a finished job!

Charlie's "acorn" stamp is a Chinquapin! I don't have it. The pumps I build use a "D" in front of the serial number in honor of Charlie.

Charlie told me that his "acorn" mark was on account of his hometown of Royal Oak, Michigan.
