Cast bullet base question

I was looking at the Accurate Moulds website and saw this bullet with a base shape that surprised me.  What are the experts thoughts on this beveled base?  Tom  Undecided

Not an expert, but it will be easier to seat in a case or down a muzzle and in theory should have less distortion or finning on the base from lead smearing back entering and traveling the bore.

Bevel based target bullets are popular in Bullseye pistol
target shooting-  45 acp ,38 spl and 9mm.
Also, good accuracy can be had with shooting gas check
rifle bullets w/o the gas checks.

I think maybe the question is: can it be used with BP?

The early Postell molds had a beveled base like that. I have one and they shoot good.  457132

I put a slight bevel on my bases it helps to eliminate any finning beyond the base.

I agree with Old Win. I have the early Postel with the Bevel they do shoot good.
I pan lubed a batch and then sized them down to .451  to .452 and shot them at 1000 Yds. in a Borchardt  45 X 2 7/8 " and did very well with a duplex Load of 10 Gr 4759 and 100 Grs Elephant Fg Powder. ended up with a group on a steel plate just under 10", now that is less  than minute of angle. Now to tell the truth I will never do that again, the rifle weighed just 11 Lbs. And it kicked like a Mule, we were shooting from a Bench. If you try this you must Pan lube before trying to size them down. The Lubricant supports the bullet so it sizes nicely. If you try to size a soft 30/1  naked bullet the outer ring diameter will mush all over and not come out round. And to repeat this was not an experience I wish to repeat. I now understand why the Later Long Range Creedmore rifles ended up at
45 X 2 4/10"  or .45-90 in our language. HTH Regards FITZ. OLD TUCK Smiley
