Geez, maybe you and Marlinguy should rent a billboard proclaiming so. Tongue in cheek, since I don't know how to do smilies.

Nice looking bunch of .38-55 cartridges. Would you mind sharing your load and bullet info?
Thanks

There are indeed two Americas. Simply put, it is not the haves and have nots. The two Americans are in reality divided into those who do and those who don't.

It is still very interesting to myself on the various routes that we all take. To either improve on accuracy or to just simply enjoy what it is as individuals that we all enjoy to do. The talent here is quite remarkable and also a true blessing for it to be continually shared by all.

So did any maker offer, back in the day, .38-55 patched cartridges loaded at the factory? I sure can't remember seeing them.

It looks like the cartridge pictured on the UMC box is patched.

I own a similar box of loaded ammo as Rebel pictured above. I also own an original full box of paper patched bullets marked, "JM Marlin" and "For .38-55 Ballard".

Actually, in addition to the picture, the label on the box says "PATCHED BULLET". Sometimes we' focus so hard we miss things.

These may be old enough to fire in a #5 roller.

Here's the "J. M. Marlin" marked box of .38 caliber 255 grain paper patched bullets. Likely made for JM Marlin by UMC, but marked with JM Marlin name.

And another box of 25 paper patched bullets marked as made by Union Metallic Cartridge Company, but listed as ".44 CAL. 530 GRs. Ballard Bullets" and "PATCHED" below that.
These bullets would have been made specifically for the #7 Long Range Ballard in Ballard's .44-100 Long-Range cartridge.

This was the heaviest bullet produced for the .44-100, but it was the standard weight for 800-1000 yd. Long Range Matches.
I have an unopened box of ammo for this same .44 Long Range, and it's marked as "Target Ammunition for Long-Range". I think it's also made by UMC. Need to remember where I hid it, and get a picture of the box. Obviously I wont be opening it.
