Old powder cans

Here is one you don't see every day, as a matter of fact I've never seen one.  I have seen reference to it in old loading manuals.
This one is unopened and still has the seal intact.

I used to shoot a LOT of HiVel 2.   My remaining can is in better shape, but the seal is broken.

Another Bullseye, but a early keg with a paint stencilled name

I have a number of those short square powder cans. Unique, Bullseye, 2400, etc. Never really collected them, but rather bought them to use the powder and then hung onto the empties.
I do collect the older flask shaped cans in one pound, and half pound sizes, plus some of the rectangle military powders. Think I've got 35 or 40 of them in various brands and eras.

I think this is the oldest can that I'm the current caretaker of.  It is a 6 1/4 pound DuPont black powder.  The label is on the bottom

That's a very neat old DuPont can! Can't say as I've seen that one? Guessing from the appearance it's 1880's or 1890's?

When I started shooting center fire rifles as a Teenager Hivel  2 was well recommended Powder for calibers starting in 25-35 and right on up to 30-06
I used a lot of it because no matter what caliber Rifle I ended up with the Hivel 2 could be relied on to shoot good and my level of what I considered "Accurate"
was a lot different than what I now would consider satisfactory. But I did run a lot of it thru a measure. FITZ. OLD TUCK Smiley
