	First off Good Day to all this is my first post. I've been lurking for a while and so happy to see people loving and shoot SS Rifles. I shot Schuetzen for a while here in Arizona. I sold my CPA Stevens 441/2 and wishing I still have them. I still have a .22LR Pope Ballard and a .22lr Schoyen Ballard. I would like to get an appraisal and see if there is a way to find history on each. They are "prone" rifles I think because of the stocks. Any ideas will be helpful.

	Welcome. You'll get plenty of good info from the members here. A Pope prone rifle sold yesterday on Gun Broker for a little over $2700.00

	It's tough to appraise good guns like yours without seeing them. The values of Pope and Schoyen rifles can be all over the place, so what yours are valued at needs to be assessed in person. Might want to tell us what part of the US you live in, rather than us sending you wherever without knowing.

Raven, My first response to your post showed very poor manners, sorry. Welcome to the forum! There are several folks here that may be able to give you a fair insight on the history of your Ballards. I doubt that I can tell you much even though I have a lot of passion for the Ballards, have read a considerable amount, been told quite a few stories about different ones - my memory retention for the particulars does get convoluted... The value of these, even though you may hear and read that the price is dropping because of the lack of interest, don't believe that. These pieces of history, in the right circles, hold their value quite well - but that much like many other vintage items - has to be exposed to the right crowd. I have a group of young folks I'm bringing along and they are beginning to get the exposure to these relics, and they understand the value. They don't have the discretionary cash available to them that others may have but following recent events, many of the youth I am seeing here are getting a clear picture of value. I had one such youth tell me recently, buy once, cry once, no junk. Regards, Greg

	Raven living in Arizona was indeed exactly why I recommended Peterson instead of other qualified appraisers. Also, as a professional appraiser myself - I'm in southern Indiana - I hold that even numerous very good photos cannot replace hands-on examination if you want an accurate appraisal. Bill Lawrence

	Thanks for all of the replies. I think I'll be going east in the next few months. The suggestion to have them looked at in person is exactly what I have to do. 'll take them to Albuquerque and have Ron Peterson check them out. I'm familiar with Ron , I used to work in Albuquerque every August and there is a really good hat store in downtown that I have to visit and get a new hat. Thanks again Jerry-RavenRider

	Ah, The Man's Hat Shop, now that is a real hat shop! Better check with Ron to see if he will be there before you lug your rifles along.
