Wondering if anybody has a source for scope blinders. I used to have a couple for an old Weaver and STS but those scopes are long gone and apparently so are they. The ones I had used an adjustable tube clamp with a black plastic blinder that could be folded flat along the tube for transport. Really looking for a store bought  as I don’t want to make them unless somebody has a stupid simple solution that is not mounted to my glasses like my Bullseye blinder.

Thanks

How are you going to watch the wind flags with one covered?

Champions choice & other target rifle suppliers sell several types of Iron sight blinders. May have scope models. One I used to use on scopes looks like a iron sight binder with a small magnet that attached to the scope.

One I use now is leather,  round to slip over the occular lens with a flap to block off eye vision. Made that one.

Offhand most agree your balance is better both eyes open. Blinder blocks adverse light while allowing off eye open. Good light not often needed. Light from behind the target blinder is important. Western Carolina Schuetzen had that condition mornings.

For years and years I used a targ dot on my glasses for a blinder. Couple years ago got new lenses in my shooting glasses.  Not a targ dot to be found at the next match with the new glasses so I just closed one eye and shot.

Fabulous score and felt natural just like when I was a kid shooting my BB gun. Using my left eye lid for a blinder now and shooting higher scores that even. Never missed with my BB gun.......... Tongue

I remember that target dot. I think an eye patch would look good with your heavy percussion guns and the fringe jacket!

I looked at Champions and Creedmore but I couldn’t find anything that looked like I could use it on a Unertl or similar. When I was heavy into Bullseye I had a flip down blinder on my glasses but I like to have both eyes working when I pull my head off the scope. I guess I’ll keep looking but closing one eye is not the answer for me.

I made a blinder to fit on my two inch Unertl by cutting out a piece of Lexan or Plexiglass. Made it so it would snap onto the tube sorta like a bread bag tie.

By yolly, found it in my shooting box. Been floating round in there for, since about 1990.  Looks bad and dirty but you could make a nice one out of black plastic sheet.

I know darn well there is a device or product out there that is made for something else but will work fine. I just can’t find it and there are like 3000 pages in McMaster Carr

someone used to make a foam version of the freeland style blinders for long scopes. it would work with any. if you take soft thin foam you could make one. Just cut a hole slightly under size with T cuts to allow slip to fit the eye piece tube.

I once cut one out of a black plastic coffee can lid for my Granddaughter to use when shooting her Feinwerkbau smallbore rifle. It was flexible enough to fold down the side when putting the rifle back into its case and easily straightened back out for use when taken back out of the case. It was attached by use of the threaded aperture and also holding it in its proper place. Not very fancy per-say but it worked out very well for her own personal use.

Well it appears that rifle blinders or I should say rifle scope blinders are unusual to say the least. Quite a few options and head gear for the international rimfire competitors but all are specific to iron sights. Right now I’m thinking this is a problem only answered in my shop which I was trying to avoid. Nothing out there to fit a Unertl 3/4”-1” tube and I’m up to page 1235 in McMaster & Carr.

Thanks for some ideas I guess but still hoping for a miracle solution.

Something that never leaves my shooting bag is a cap from Landrys Cap Co  in Port Arthur TX used to be a standard Slop Chest item . Floppy brim won’t interfere with tang sights, wear it sideways, cocked, whatever it takes to block eye or adverse sun.

Landrys long gone but outfit in South Louisiana makes similar.

This caps Australian OK for scopes brims too long for a tang sight. You can just see my leather scope blinder. Easy to make.
