Paul Jones mold - amazing
Jun 24th, 2020 at 1:32am
Print Post
I have seen Paul Jones molds go for a lot of money lately, he retired for those that did not know; but I have never seen any go for this kind of money! And that is a nothing special design too. However, the clean looking mold is going for it. But still!
WOW! Shocked

They can ask whatever, but unless it sells it's only worth the buying price.

This guy wants this mold real bad ...

Bidder Information
Bidder:      a***a ( 1267Feedback score is 1000 to 4,999)
When it hits  the final $, I'm going to update my spreadsheet with the PJ molds I have
Starting bid price was $100.  Original price of the mold was $190

Here's an idea to make some money: Have Accurate Molds clone it and then sell the PJ mold  Grin

They are not asking - the point is the high bid.

It is at auction and the 27 bids have it at $575 with time to go.

If you define genius as the infinite capacity for taking pains, Paul Jones was a genius, all right.  He started with SAECO blocks and ground them perfectly square.  He would then bore the cavity, check it by casting, and bore it again if it didn’t suit him.

A friend went down to Paul’s grind shop to pick up a mould he had ordered, and Paul led him into a room with a pot of molten lead, ladle and hammer handle at the ready.  “Let me show you how to use My Mould,” he said, and showed Gary the trick of pushing the bottom edge of the right-hand block while opening the handles so the casting rotated itself out of the cavity.

I think PJ will be known as the Harry Pope of mould makers in the future.  Looks like the auction price of his moulds is already reflecting that.

I will have to put my 32 cal spitzer in my will so the kids don't fight over it  Smiley
Just before he stopped making molds, I called to order my mold and he said to send him a check and I would either get a mold in the mail of he would tear up the check.  Lucky me when it showed up!

Two sold on EBay in Jan or Feb  both 321 but different weight! One sold for 875.00 and the other for 725.00 had around 60 bids between them! So it appears to be the trend if you want one! They are some of my best investments in this game!

Absolutely out of their minds.
Yes, PJ molds are great. I have had only one.
Did not like the design, so sold it.
They have turned into a cult following and
are now collectors items, almost too expensive
to use.

Other molds out there are also excellent, (almost) faultless
in design and function. Lately I am completely impressed with the BACO molds I have

A cult really who would have thought about that. Now we Jones moulds being priced higher than Pope's? In my experience the B&D's were better than the Jone's by a substantial amount.

Me too BJ!
I find them very workable, an cast pretty good bullets. So I’m not ashamed! I also have a 69 GTO but who likes Pontiacs?
Not many. That’s what makes the world interesting.
