Anyone breach seating using Accurate #9 in a .32-40? Would you care to share your loading info?

  I'm using 15gr of H108 or WC820 (same thing as #9) with a 217g B&D bullet. A pretty snappish load, about 1525fps.

In the past I was using 14.2 grains with a 216 grain Spitzer and it shot extremely well in a Douglas barrel with a 15 Twist.

Jeff/John,
Thank you for your responses.  I’ve been shooting a 208 grain PJ 25 to 1 and recently increased slightly to 12.4 gr of #9.  No issues with it. Was simply curious what others were doing. I will NOT be taking my old Ballard into your realm, Jeff.
Again, my thanks to both of you.
Jim

I am in the same boat with a Ballard also. I've been up to 14.5 gr of 4227 but was wondering about a ball powder like #9. Thanks for the info.

If #9 is equivalent to H108, Hodgdon's 32-40 loads for H108 breech seating 202 and 204 grain bullets were 12.5 grains and 12.6 grains giving a pressure of 19,700 psi and a velocity of about 1360 fps. I believe some in their family were actually using these loads at that time.

The below link should take you to a burn rate chart that also includes H-108 and 300MP along with #9 and the most complete I have found to date.

I have found that there is very little information regarding the use of Accurate LT32 or LT30 for use in some cartridges of interest here. It meters extremely well, and has a good reputation with the short range benhrest crowd. I notice it is absent from Jlouis's list, and very little on Accurate's load data. Burn rate "similar" to 4198. Has anyone here done any experimenting with either? No intention of hi-jacking this thread, I apologize if so.

I have used LT-30 in my 28-35 with real good success. But I didn't find it to be any better than 300MP in my tests. Hope to try it in my 25-35 as well at some point in time. The only issue with it so far is how much higher the powder charge needs to be and also the price.

Thanks for the information Jlouis. I came across 8 lbs really reasonable and would like to make use of it. I plan to try it in a Donaldson Wasp as the capacity and design is similar to The PPC, but will just have to experiment as so little information seems to be available.

The LT30 or the LT-32. One thing that I like about the LT-30 is it burns real clean. And the other the Rifle disturbance on the bags for the 28-35 was quite a bit less.
