Wow, this guy makes some fine rifles, and that funky peep sight for a bolt.
Unknown maker to me till just now.
Our friend Al Springer did the case and rust blue on the #1 Wesson.

I know what cast on and cast off are, but what is toe in?

I'm more than a little disappointed that McLaughlin isn't courteous enough to give Steve Earle credit.  On the other hand, he likely doesn't want people buying their own actions directly and ending up with an equally nice Wesson rifle, but not from McLaughlin.

Steve E. doesn't show any pictures of the McLaughlin projects on his website. Maybe, it's not reasonable to question either party, and just appreciate that the components are available and there are gunsmiths and customers that make use of them?

I saw a rifle with one of the McLaughlin Rigby peep sights on it a couple of years ago. I thought it was a one off custom touch, but it turned out that one wasn't even hand finish, just installed. Really a nice looking piece.

I'm just glad to see quality firearms still being made by small companies. And Al Springer's color case and rust bluing is always superb!

Joe, probably the same thing as in wheel alignment. The butt of the stock, instead of being shifted left or right, is twisted on its axis like an old VW. Maybe this would be for someone with an odd shaped shoulder or who mounts their rifle unusually.

Only thing I can think of. I have a couple rifles I made that have toe in. Not on purpose, just came out that way. 

First time I ever heard of it in a rifle ad. Have a fancy German rifle with cast on. Very strange.

I think it’s pretty common to spot toe out on the trap range with folks that really want to fiddle with their adjustable stock.

The first time I saw one of those was on a Rigby that I could only drool over, then a fella shared one he acquired and like so many deep holes I dive down, had to make one to see how it'd turn out... There are some interesting little idiosyncrasies one has to do to the cocking piece and sear to make it really work.  It does make a bolt gun a novelty and interesting to shoot.   Thought I had more pictures of it finished but I can't find them.

John is a nice guy. I graduated from Trinidad State Jr. College in 2018, he wasn't teaching there anymore but he popped in a couple times. Everyone there had a high opinion of him and his work.
