Thanks Jeff, I have the Rock chuker Jr. and it is the same. I was hoping it was more. I am loading some 45 2 7/8 and find I have to run the expander die in .400 to get the bullet in to about the second groove so it will fit in the press in. I then have to crimp it a bit to be able to chamber a round. Guess that's how its got to be?,,,,Ed

Longknife, I load 400 grain bullets in my 450-400 3 1/4 inch in my 1969 Rockchucker with no problem. Just start the bullet up in the die and slip the case in under it. Then center the bullet base on the case and Bob's your uncle.

I had the same problem with my .45 2 7/8" and the long 40-90's.
Put the old rock checker on ebay and sold it for more than I paid for it in '76. Replaced it with the larger rock chucker IV.....love the much larger window to get the bullets in.

I also use the newer Rock Chucker and it works pretty well with the .45-2-7/8"

I used a Rockchucker to load .45-100 / 2.6.  It had to be angles for bullet seating.  No problems.

You're welcome Longknife. As you can see, quite a few of us load our 45 2 7/8" on the old Rock Chucker press. As Oneatatime said, we just insert the bullet part way into the seater die and then tip the brass in under it. It's always worked out well for the likes of me.
