9.3x72R Small game load

I'm playing around with my 9.3x72R stalking rifle a bit. I'm lucky in that it is a .358 Groove diameter and I mostly shoot plain base 200 grain .358 rifle bullets.  the chamber is  cut as such that you can chamber a .366 bullet.
I had the Lee  95 grain 9mm Makarov bullet mold on my shelf and decided to try some of these with a reduced load of 6 grains of Bullseye. I have loaded a little over a hundred with this load and it is been very reliable. it holds up reasonably  to 50 yards. at a hundred yards to group start opening up to over 3 though. in I'm quite happy with this little "bunny" load.

It's a cute little rifle .I had to repair some little cracks on the wood it is very thin in some areas.
The rear sight is not original it is a replacement three leaf Express sight but whoever replaced it paid attention because it zero is very good with the loads I am shooting. It has a cartridge trap on the butt stock that is really neat as well. Light loads of 2400 and a 200g SAECO # 351 plain  base  will shoot a couple inches at a hundred yards a reasonable amount of the time.

Interesting that it has only a .358 groove. I wonder if they sold some of those barrels to Husqvarna for their 33s, like Vall's 9.???x57R (360)?

barrel is marked 118/35 to denote  plug guaged bore diameter.

That's also interesting. 118.35 equates to a .340 bore before rifling. German Guns says that it is "somewhat common" on 9.3 rifles. 108.49, a .350 bore before rifling, is "very common" on 9.3 rifles.

I'm glad it's a 118/35 as I have many bullet molds to choose from in that diameter.the chamber is cut big though.

I know it would be quite fun to pole axe a few wabbits with that.
But....what does the farmer say when you roll up and ask to shoot a few bunnies and you show him a round?

He just tells the farmer that he lives downwind of the Maralinga nuclear testing area and for some reason his local bunnies grow quite large;-)

Ballards may be weaker,
but they sure are neater!

Mine is a larger .375" bore on my Type 33 Husky Chauncey. Guessing 9.5mm version. Makes mine easy to cast .376" bullets, and shorten .38-55 brass to shoot mine.

Thanks, Vall, for the reminder. I knew yours was not a .367 9.3 so when this smaller 9.3 appeared I conveniently forgot that you were essentially shooting yours as a 38-55. Getting old! I don't think German Guns mentioned anything about a larger 9.3, maybe that was a Swedish thing.

Could just say he is concerned about Drop Bear in the area, as we all know these are common across Oztralaia
