Rodney Storie Hepburn Walker Kit

Finished this Hepburn Walker Kit from Rodney Storie's Casting yesterday after almost 3 years of on and off progress. Rodney took care of the beautiful color casing and nitre blued the screws for me. I rust blued the barrel which is a  Borchardt Rifle Company 32 cal choked bore. The wood and buttplate came from CPA as they offer a Hepburn Walker pattern for both. Caliber is 32-40 Win. Plan on finishing a Walker style windage rear sight and ideal style breech seater for it as soon as I get around to it. I have a 3/4 tube scope that will go on it for now. Haven't sighted in yet, will probably wait until a guy I know can bring his replica Pope machine rest down *cough*Rodney*cough* to sight it in. Definitely the most challenging build I have undertaken but fun nonetheless. My first time working from Rodney's casting but certainly not the last. Already have a Gibbs Military Match Kit that will be modified into a stalking rifle and a 77 sharps for long range (hopefully will finish them in the next 10 years)! And don't worry, the wood is getting checkered!

Very nice! One of my favorites. I admire your (and every one else who finishes these castings) talent.

Ballards may be weaker,
but they sure are neater!

Very, very nice. Appreciate the time, effort and skills that went into it.
The Walker is not one of the easiest rifles to build and finish.

Jason always amazes me. Just a little background on him . He is in mid twenties, was One of my former high school students in the machine class. Works as a tool maker. Also has build his own , first class stock duplicating machine. Very level headed and modest man. Can you tell I am proud or him?

To be honest if it hadn’t been Rodney’s willingness to answer countless question, share his wealth of knowledge and take time away from his projects to help with mine. There is no way I could accomplish much of anything. I’m very grateful for having such a helpful mentor so close by. If I hadn’t been exposed/corrupted (depends who you ask) to single shots I probably wouldn’t know such amazing things exist.
