I thought this was an interesting photo showing the huge chamber of my .58 Roberts Remington rolling block.

A very interesting way to get rid of a lot of lead! What's the bullet weight and muzzle velocity?

AFAIK, those were converted muzzle loading Model 1861/63/64 rifled muskets.  In their original form, they were surprisingly accurate when shot with well-made bullets and good powder.  Are you using bullets designed for the rifled musket?

It uses a 494gr hollow base minie bullet, .594" diameter over 60gr of 2F or equivalent BP sub. I havent chrono'd it, but its equivalent to the standard civil war musket load. All parts of this rifle except for the action are surplus M1863 Springfield musket. It shoots pretty well.

I noticed the SPG lube had dried out on the 58 Roberts rounds I loaded a couple years ago. So I scraped it off and dip lubed them in a fresh batch of original 19th century factory bullet lube. I hope to lob a few down range later this week.
