Just bought High Wall in 7mm/303 Epps imp. as photo and have no loading data.
Any help would be appreciated or directions to a web site.
Used to have Australian books on these different 303 cartridges but gave them all to the fella I sold my last High Wall in 22/303 to.

John Donnelly in in "Handloaders Manual of Cartridge Conversions" suggests a load of 43.6 gr. of W760 with a 150 gr. bullet.

The 7mm/303 Epps is an "improved" version of the 7X57R and you should be able to use any powder charge recommended for that cartridge as a starting load.

The cartridge is listed in vol 2 Handbook for Shooters & Reloaders by Ackley on pages 71 & 72 which says it is almost identical to a 7x57 Improved and stats any load listed for the 7 x 57 Imp. is safe in a a good bolt action such as a P17.

I have been down the road of comparing case size volume with other calibres I have owned over the years where I could not find any load data for that particular cartridge but what I was hoping for was the easy way of somebody who had actually fired this cartridge.
Looked on line but couldn't find a thing.
Bought a book in Sydney during the seventies with all the variations of the 303. and used to load for my High Walls in 22/303 and a 6mm/303 from it. Now long gone. Didn't think I would ever buy another wildcat 303.
Was trying to downsize but couldn't resist this custom High Wall which came from Canada I was told.

I have the virtual twin, a 7mm Krag Improved.  I thin my version of Quickload has the 7mm Epps Improved.  What weight bullets and what powder are you looking at?  I shoot 160 grain bullets mostly with Re 25 in my Ruger #1.  My 140 grain bullet load uses IMR 7828 ssc.  Let me know what your case capacity is in water filled to the top and the length of your barrel and what powders you have and I can run some figures this weekend.  Tom

Thanks for your reply.
24 inch barrel and a 1 in 10 twist.
Picked the rifle up yesterday and it came with fired cases.
Cases pretty dirty and before sizing cases I always de-cap the spent primers, unify the flash holes and do the primer pockets with a Sinclair tool to get the same depth and then clean the cases with fine wire wool. As I said these cases pretty dirty and had got through around half when I put them away to have a go at them another day with fine wire wool.
Found your reply and had a rake around in the rubbish bin to find three spent primers to put back into three of the cases I had not cleaned up yet, had just taken the primers out.
I weighted the empty cases and then with the water in which gave me a water weight of
                  60.8 grains
                  62.      "
                  61.6    "
Devided by three to get the average weight which comes out at 61.46 grains.
Forgot to mention bullet weight. I have a range from 100 to 170 grains and I generally stick with around the start load which I have generally found to be pretty good accuracy wise without burning out the barrel.
I generally use Australian ADI powder as its good and easy to get and I have charts which show the American equivalent.
Will not be using the rifle for hunting.
Spirit is willing but the legs arn't.

Hi Bulseyetom, many thanks for the data, especially for the ADI powders.
Have printed this off and will let you know when I have this rifle up and running.
Have replied to you on the open forum so that others will know of your help to me.
Regards.
