Buffalo Arms (BACO) makes moulds to your dimensions as does some other high-end mould suppliers.  I bet you could you could send them your dimensions for 2 moulds - one for the nose & one to hold the nose and pour the complete bullet with a gas-check base.  Of course it would cost you for two moulds @ $160 to $200 each.

I've had BACO make several moulds & have been very pleased with the quality.

Many slug-gun shooters swaged these two part bullets instead of casting, allowing them to make bullets of varies sizes and weights and hardness.   Ledball

Slug gun bullets are always pure lead at the base part, hard lead alloy nose part.

This thread is different in that poster wants a soft nose hard base bullet for hunting.

Will that combination be an advantage for hunting?  Will it be accurate?

Westerner,  I will look through the literature I have to see if I can find any write-ups along with the Ross Seifreid article. I guess the only sure way to find the answer to both your questions is to give it a go. Because slug-gunners were looking for accuracy, it would seem that they decided to put the weight at the base to help in that regard, but would defeat being helpfull in expansion. My solution back when I was fooling around with this, was to hollow point the bullets in a Forster trimmer, and later in a lathe when I aquired one, along with soft lead. My interest now, would be to follow up on the original idea, and satisfy my own curiosity.

Pure lead in the base was for upsetting into groove diameter.

Yep, someone has to try it.

Ross Seyfried article in Guns & Ammo magazine, June 1989 details this procedure.

Around 1980 Lyman made a two cavity mold for hunting bullets for pistols I think in .357 and .429. Trashcan base with a Large tapered hollow point and flat bottom,  the nose was a semi wadcutter with a tapered flat base to fit the hollow point of the base of rear part of bullet. Cast the rear with no 2 alloy and the nose with pure lead, they were glued togather with a drop of epoxy on the base of nose. Let dry and size& lube next day.  I never tried it never had 2 lead pots.

Ideal also cataloged the #228367-Tip mould to cast a soft nose tip for the #228367 60gr gas-check mould and the #228367-53 plain base mould for the .22 Savage High Power cartridge.
