"Zimmer Stutzen" in an upcoming auction ...

This rifle is coming up for sale in an onliine auction in about a week and I have a "watch" on it ... well ... just because it is different!

Grin

What a strange cat!  It is described as an "F Neumeyer Freising Zimmer Stutzen" in 4mm (4mmm Flobert rimfire I assume).  The barrel length is only listed as being "8 inches" so I have to assume that the 4mm Flobert rimfire cartridge is inserted into the "chamber" through the port up near the muzzle and then the "hammer" blow is transferred to the cartridge?  (???)  So far it is still fairly reasonable at $275 (Canadian), but I'll see what it is doing on the day of the auction and just might have to bid on it!

At that price or near it, I should think you would find it very entertaining. I believe some of the San Diego guys shoot zimmerstutzen regularly.

I looked at them a while back, and was wondering about building something similar for basement shooting, but CCI Long CBs are so simple and quiet.

Yeah, it's a bit intriguing for sure, and ammo is available even if it would be a bit pricey.  I'll watch it and see where the price goes on auction day and bid accordingly.

Currently up to $350 (Canadian) with 3 days left to go until the auction closes.

Betting not 4mm Flobert, but separate ball and cartridge. Device swings out to load. Ball size usually marked on the end of the barrel insert.

Well, the bidding got a bit fast and furious on it on auction day (today) and it sold for about $1,700 Canadian with the auction house fees ...

Shocked

Oh ... and the other Schuetzen in 8.15x46R that was in the same auction sold for $1,840 plus taxes and shipping.  (Canadian)

There is another Schuetzen in another upcoming auction.  I'll monitor it, but it'll likely sell in the same range.
