	looking for a mashburn bee accurate load, not interested in a hot load. I just got this rifle and I hope to save a little time trying to find an accurate load. Thanks in advance. Bill

	Bill - I once owned a Winchester highwall in 218 Mashburn Bee. My good friend Neal Rice worked for Art Mashburn in the mid sixties and supplied me with their recommended loads back then. One worked quite well, but I will have to go look them up in the shop. I will post later as we have a ton of snow on the ground here.

If a single shot, your Bullet options change.

	Third1960 Sorry to take so long getting back to you. The rifle was a Winchester Highwall, plain trigger, with a Buehmiller(sp) barrel, Unertl 1" 10x scope. The best loads were as follows: 218 Mashburn Bee 45 gr Sierra soft point .224 Hornet bullet 16 grains IMR 4227 WW case RWS small rifle primer for 5 - 5 shot groups, this load averaged .660 @ 100 yds, perfect conditions. These were shot in 1975 to 1977, so there are much better bullets available now, and a mutitude of powder choices. Perhaps someone who is shooting a Mashburn Bee currently will join in with some more current loadings. Another load that showed some promise was: 50 gr sierra soft point 15 gr IMR 4227 WW case RWS small rifle primer The prior load shot best, so stuck with it. I am ashamed to admit how many Prairie Dogs were sent to the promised land with that rifle and load, but can't go back in time and change things. Good luck withn your Bee. You did not mention your rifle, so be aware of what ohnomrbillk posted regarding a magazine tube rifle not being suitable for pointed bullets, which these loads use!

	I have a cadet martini so I will be able to shoot pointed bullets.

	Cases that size are friendly to Lil'Gun. Just sayin'. I have found good loads using it for 45 grain bullets in the R2 Lovell, which is only slightly smaller.

	I would agree with Little Gun being one to try. It worked wonders with a Model 54 Hornet and an 1875 c. Sharps K_Hornet. Before that Winchester 680 and Accurate 1680 worked nearly as well. Long long long ago 2400 was the powder that I used in a model 23 Savage, and it might still work well in some rifles, and there is only one way to find out. I have a Cadet Martini in 25-20 WCF and it likes H110, go figure, I long ago decided it is a crap shoot, and you just keep trying till you win!!!

	Again extrapolating from Lovell experience.....4227 and 4198 were the canonical powders in the 1940s. The Lovell case is only 2 grains of water smaller than the M-Bee.

	Plain old factory Bee in a no 1, best bullet I found was 40gr V-max. Seated way out and still nowhere near the lands. H4227 was better than IMR, for whatever reason. Have some Lil Gun, but not tried it yet. I also have some copper cup Russian primers from way back, with a reputation for being on the mild side. They tend to pierce with HP loads. Brief test suggests vertical is significantly better than BR-4, or WSR.

	My go to powders for the mashburn bee are AA1680 and the new CFE Blk Out. Both can easily reach 3300 fps with a 40 gr. Nozzzler BT.

	Bill, I love the Martini small frame. I'll assume that it was a 22LR barrel that has been re-chambered to Mashburn Bee and the block converted to center-fire. If correct, the twist rate likely is 1:16 so shorter/lighter bullets are going to perform best. Montana Bullet Works twist rate tables suggest a max bullet length of .47" and weight of 44 grains will perform best. I have used Alliant 2400 primarily, and here are some loads that have performed well for me in this configuration: 35g V-Max over 11.2g of 2400 40g V-max over 11.8g of 2400 45g Hornady Bee over 10.7g of 2400 37g rnfp/gc (Reed's) over 10.5g of 2400 IMR 4227 has similar characteristics and I have had good results with it as well. Every rifle and barrel is different, so have fun finding which bullet and powder combination works best in yours.

	I've been shooting my 218 Mashburn Bee in the local matches at 100 yards. My best load so far is 11.5 grains of H4227 with a 40 grain Barnes bullet and a Winchester small rifle primer.
