	this is the 31949 117g version.ive yet to shoot it.but just cast a few quick samples to get velocity data in my 32 Win spcl & 32-40 .looking forward to a nice offhand load for my 50 yard lunch time shooting spot close to the office. tool next to the bullets is a base de-burr tool as there is a slight flaw on the rear band that makes a tiny fin. And notice the part line is very visible on the nose but the bullet is quite round and blocks close tight.

	I have a similar bullet for the 38-55. Lyman No. 37583. fun to shoot, as minimal recoil and economical. good for short range practice.

	Cba shooter. How do you hold the bullet to deburr the base. I vision some sort of lee deburr tool similarity or pencil sharpener set up on the inside of that tool.

	What alloy are you using it appears to contain antimony? Or you might possibly have some type of contamination going on within the mould cavity by the way they look.

	JLouis thanks but I can see the flaws in these bullets but wasn’t sure about your antimony comment. I haven’t cast in about four or five years as I’ve been overtaken by events. As I recall a mold too hot will give that shiney appearance and rounded unfilled edges but I’m sure there are other suspects too. Rick

	Casting to hot can leave the bullets looking frosty and if casting to low it can leave the bases a bit round and not being fully filled out. Bullets containing antimony have a very different and distinct look to them compared to those of just lead tin.

	I’m starting to get your drift here on Antimony (Sb) so if I can, let me ask you a bit more on this. I’ve got roughly 2 -2.5K pounds of lead in my stash. Most of it is sea salvaged lead sailboat keels. (another story). There are two or three firms that cast these large monolithic lead keels all of which use between .75 to 1.5% antimony to control shrinkage and perhaps increase hardness in way of bolting and flange surfaces. So my lead stash includes the above percentages of Sb. Hardness testing reveals BHN approx 7.0 to 8.0 which I believe is about 1-20 to 1-25 alloy. This lead shoots good out of my 45-70 Sharps and was accurate enough for knocking over steel. But does this sound like an alloy that will fly accurately in my new CPA 38-55 ? I’ve got tin and dead soft lead ingots so if I have to I can start cooking. But it sure would be nice to be able to cast this keel lead as is. Maybe this is one of those questions that the answer is shoot it and see but I would sure like to hear from you and others who have been there. Rick

	Rick after spending a little over a year experimenting with various amounts of antimony included in the alloy. In all honesty it depends on where you want go and what competitive events you would like to participate in. If you are looking to achieve the very best in benchrest accuracy. 99% certified pure lead and 99% certified pure tin would be the best choice to get you there and it's all that I use. Then its down to which mix does your rifle likes the best. Mine likes 16-1 lead and tin but yours might like 30-1 lead and tin instead. And it can also depend on bullet design and bullet fit, some might like to have more tin and some would prefer to have less.
