Luckily I happened to have had some original sights to install on it.  Ran out of Ballard front sights but had a Stevens windgauge. Stevens.

Thanks. Was a bit of a let down. One usually expects to test several bullets and powder charges and head scratching and several trips to the range and so forth. Took me about two hours to get the correct bullet and load. The five shots in the center of the target are the previous owners bullets and load. That's two hours including set up time. Shooting season is over for me. No matches to use it in.   Sad  DANG!  Angry

About 11/16 of the way through the last century, when I was just getting started with single shots, I saw a hammerless Ballard in Jerry Crozier's shop.  I asked about it, but he wouldn't sell it to me.  Jerry said "if I knew they existed, that was all I needed to know."
