Belding and Mull question

Since I started shooting black powder in several rifles I have been using my Belding & Mull measure quite a bit.  One problem that I have is that the pivot screw on the handle wants to back off a fraction of a turn every time I operate the charge handle.  I have tried a drop of oil on the upper part of the screw that is smooth that the handle pivots around but no luck.  I haven't tried Loctite as that seemed extreme.  Now I just reach down and hand tighten it every once in awhile as I am throwing charges and tighten it with a screwdriver before I start but there has to be a secret known only to a select few B&M users!  Any ideas?  Thanks.  Tom

On my B&M powder measure there is a screw on the back side that locks the handle pivot screw in position

I had the same problem with mine, removed the screw, and installed a wave washer to put back pressure on it and haven't had a problem since then.

On most of mine, like AJ says there is a lock screw - I marked where this hits on the lever screw and filed a small flat. Then I applied a small dot of blue Loctite to all the threads and things quit moving.
The other thing I use rather than oil is wax to lube things up and make things slick.   I used a heat gun and dribbled a little beeswax on the slide and moving parts, then someone said to use auto wax sparingly, so Turtle Wax is on one of them - seems to be lasting the best...
My 2 cents...

Wax shoe polish also works well as a lube on the block (mine likes cordavan  Wink). Clean it well and wipe a little on all the contact surfaces. Both of my B&M's have the lock-screw, which works well.

Took the handle and spring off long ago.  Slide the hopper back and forth with my fingers.  A Wes Turner style spring (rubber band) will make sure it closes.  A very weak replacement spring would do the same.  Lube the hopper with spray mold lube.  Keeps it slick for a couple of years.

I run 3 of them on my bench, and all of them have been dissected and polished, tweaked, de burred, and "improved" upon including a better spring. But they are great powder dispensers.
