For those of you interested, I just posted a short article on my website titled BPCR Brass - Stretching or Shortening Over Time?  It was published in the recent edition of The Single Shot Exchange Magazine.  I did make a few modifications prior to posting it on my website.  Here’s the link:  (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links)

Thanks for the post. My question is: what is the actual benefit of tumbling the cases after every firing? I clean my BP cases inside with a bronze bore brush in a cordless drill under a running faucet. I hold them with a piece of grey 3M pad and let the case spin a bit while running the bore brush. Does tumbling provide any further benefit other than cosmetic?

JS,

The short answer is no.  If you are happy cleaning cases individually by hand using a brush than continue.  I shoot typically 60 round in a match 2 to 3 times a month and up to 200 in a 2-day match a few times a year.  I'm not about to spend the time cleaning them by hand when I can toss them in a tumbler with some concentrated cleaner & water for a couple of hours & they come out like new inside and out including the primer pockets.

The main benefit is that there is no need to handle each case individually, you can just start the machine and let it do the tedious work....
