Stevens Pope #1661 Loading Tools

I recently picked up a set of loading tools for a Stevens Pope rifle.  The false muzzle and starter are numbered #1661.  I have been able to learn that it was from a Stevens Pope system with a #5 weight barrel in 38-72 and had an action # 5101.  It also has a Pope style luber, and barrel rail slide.  I hate to see these parted from the original rifle and If I can find the owner, would like to see them reunited.  If anyone knows where this rifle is, let me know.    Bruce

Thank you for those kind words.  I just know that if I owned the rifle, I would love to get the original loading tools for it.

Ballards may be weaker,
but they sure are neater!

I hope you locate the owner of that barrel! It may not be on the particular action any longer, so hopefully somebody at least has the barrel, regardless of which action it's on!
I have a couple Stevens-Pope barrels that are fitted to Ballard actions. No idea if they were fitted at Stevens, or taken from Stevens rifles and refitted to the Ballard actions.

You might try Tom Rowe at:
Rowebooks1@gmail.com
he is working on the second volume of Warren Greatbatch's Pope book, which will cover the years Pope spent at Stevens. That serial number may be on his list of known rifles.
Good luck

There are indeed two Americas. Simply put, it is not the haves and have nots. The two Americans are in reality divided into those who do and those who don't.

Randy,
Tom Rowe is where I got the information on the rifle.  He did have it in his Stevens-Pope records.
