Below is a very simple and useful tool for the home hobbyist to make. On one end is a primer pocket scraper and on the other end is a custom sized neck exspander to eliminate any blow by going past the case. And it's for those who are breech seating while using the same case in a match. I have made a few for friends and of course for myself and it's allot easier to use than a hit and a miss being something tapered to expand the neck.

Pretty neat little tool and basically all it cost was your time. I had problems with my dies overworking the 7.62x54r case necks with cast bullets. Old school machine shop supply house had 36" long 7/8x14 threaded rod. Made up a shorty neck sizing die to  get .002-.003 neck tension. Never hardened it and since brass is softer than steel still use it. The 100 cases have been reloaded close to 20 times as the die has a bevel on the bottom matching the shoulder. Didn't plan it that way. Frank

Even handier would be to build the tools onto the handles of your re-and-de, (as some do).

That is nice, JLouis... as a guy who never saw a shooting gizmo he didn't like, you've got my attention.  Now I'll have to dust off the old lathe and make one for myself.  Is your material of choice stainless, cold rolled, tool steel, or...?

The ubiquitous Simmons re- and decapper had those primer pocket scrapers on the outboard ends of the handles, but most folks seem to find them uncomfortable, digging in to the heel of ones hand in actual use.  Separating this function makes a lot of sense.

Regards,
Froggie

I use 12L14 Charlie and I haven't worn one out yet. I never cared for them being on a re&de I found they were just to awkward to use.

They would indeed and I would typically do so. This one is for my 25-35 and I was in a bit of a hurry to get it made. The way I set up my competitive barrels and my primer pocket depths requires them to be scraped after every shot. If they protrude the least bit from any fouling buildup the breech block will not close so it was something I needed to have right away.
