Interesting Single Shots at Next Gunslinger Auctio

In my continuing efforts to help my Fellow Travelers feed their Addictions, I call your attention to Gunslinger Auctions' 09/28 sale:
Lot 188: a Ballard 61/2 Rigby with an unusual stamp on the top Rigby flat
Lot 192: a Sharps Model 1874 Long Range with heel sight mount
Lot 194: a customized High-Wall Schuetzen with a Hartford-Pope barrel, still with its false muzzle
Lot 195: a 2-barrel customized take-down High-Wall Schuetzen with a Singer lever; the barrel that had a false muzzle was originally (and may still be) a .25-35

Good luck to any who bid on thereon!

Bill Lawrence

Lot 188 is not a Ballard 6 1/2 Rigby. Barrel and front sight are not Ballard, not even close. Appears to be very good workmanship with the scallops between the flats but it isn't Ballard.

That sharps likely has a replaced forend and has a poorly repaired break through the pistol grip. Still an interesting gun just caveat emptor for anyone thinking of bidding. Thanks Bill

If the "they" that sold the accessories to the Pope rifle on eBay was Gunslinger Auctions, that's a new low, even for them.

Jeff, I am glad you got the Pope Duplex measure.  I saw it online and spoke with the seller.  We agreed to a slightly lower price and he was going to convert the auction to a Buy-It-Now.  He did but at a higher price.  When I called him back he laughed at me and said someone paid more.

The nail in the coffin was when he asked me what it was and why it was worth so much. <sigh>

I hope whoever bought the bullet mould and false muzzle ends up with the rifle.

Hi Joe,  We originally agreed on a lower price too then he said someone else contacted him and offered more while I was responding to that message I noticed he added the buy it now which was even higher and I immediately bought it. Still was a bargain with the Ideal #6 included. I was very glad to get it, that’s the third Pope duplex measure I got off Ebay.  Jeff

Three Pope duplex measures?  Just off eBay?  How about sharing a little of your wealth, Jeff.   Wink

You just have to spend the time looking Bill. That’s 3 in about 10 years. It just takes time and a lot of luck. The first 2 were in a lot together.

The Marlin Ballard, Lot 188, is an interesting rifle.  Does anybody know any particulars on it?

Would it be a 28-30?

Ballards may be weaker,
but they sure are neater!

As mentioned above, it's not original. It may be a Rigby action, and buttstock, but buttplate isn't Marlin, and the barrel isn't either. No idea what caliber it is myself.
I had to chuckle at the last part of the description that said they "saw one just like it sell for $18,000." I doubt anyone would be foolish enough to pay a fraction of that $18,000 price for one "just like it".
It takes a pretty minty, and 100% original Rigby Ballard to get $18,000.
