Remington Hepburn Project

Just finished project Hepburn, begun in the late 1970s by an old friend (he was 79 at the time, which seemed old then, not so much now).

Original action.  E. Remington and Sons .45 caliber, gain twist, 32", #4 barrel.  Wood work by Russ Gent.  

This is the gun I needed a rear sight for, and advertised for one, on the For Sale forum.  I bought the pieces from Numrich but once they arrived I thought the gun deserved something really nice.

Tony Maddox, of the Original Sight Company, contacted me and I bought one of his mid-range tang sights. A Remington original could not be any better, and perhaps not even as nice.

I love Hepburns, and that's a real beauty! You're right to go with a higher quality sight. The finish on the Remington sight from Numrich just isn't good enough for your build.

Very nice rifle, I like it.
Getting the bottom curve just right on a Hepburn is not easy.

I saw Tony's sights at the Quigley, and they are nice!

That's a 32" barrel.

I'll be curious to see how it shoots.  I have no idea how fast the twist finishes out, but it seems fairly fast.
