Wow.  What a amazing rifle and sight.  The craftsmanship exhibited in both are amazing.

I'm looking forward to seeing a current rendition of the sight from GT.

You don't see a Prince of Wales pistol grip on a Borchardt very often either. That and the checkering pattern make it kind of a mix between English and American style.  With the small number of mid-range, long-range and short-range paneled Borchardt's that where ever manufactured, it makes a guy wonder how many still exist in their original condition? Was this one another one of those that was turned into something else?

The books in the background suggest that the last photo was taken perhaps as long as 60 years ago.  In any case, I, too, hope the rifle is still around and still unmolested.

It got my attention, thanks for posting Joe.  I have quite a few sights I plan to make in the near future this will be a few down the list if I tackle it... Huh  I'm still struggling with a couple I posted earlier and Statesrights' picture posted last month really has me going - I'm getting motivational help for that one too.

The base with it's detent spring on the the back of the staff has characteristics of a the Carver design - after giving it some thought, I did make a variation of this sight a few years back...  kept the adjusting screw within the staff and I didn't like the small dovetails used for windage, so it has my variant...
