I purchased a cheapo Harbor Freight dual canister rotary tumbler I think it was $59 plus I used a 20% coupon.  Bought some SS pins off Ebay.
I load my dirty cases into the tumblers, add a squirt of Lyman case cleaner and a pinch of citric acid. Turn the tumbler on for a couple of hours, rinse the cases with clean hot water and shake them out in a rolled up towel.
It's amazing how clean the cases come out. Even the primer pockets look spotless. I will never use any other way to clean cases again.

I'm a little confused. I have been using walnut hauls dry for years with pretty good results but takes awhile. Been thinking about changing to wet and pins.
My question is - if you knock the primers out first, isn't that running dirty cases through the resizing dies ???  Undecided

Get a Lee Universal depriming die, no dirty cases through your resizing die.

I do not resize my black powder cases, only expand the neck enough to finger seat the bullet.

I usually deprime at the range using one similar to this.

The majority of black powder cartridge rifle (BPCR) silhouette shooters do not use their resizing die to remove the primers.  The cases are deprimed shortly after shooting a relay & dropped into a container of water & dish washing detergent to soften the residue.  The cases are deprimed with various types of hand depriming or decapping tools made by several companies.

Well that clears things up pretty well. Thanks guys. Looks like I need to purchase more reloading equipment. By the way I shoot a Uberti 1885 in 32-20. Love the single shots.

following another post on here I recent purchased a cheap ultrasonic cleaner for my BP cases. Works a treat with some water, dish detergent and some vinegar. Have never bothered with smokeless cases just normally clean the necks with a solvent soaked patch as soon as they come out of the action.

I decap all my brass as a separate operation prior to tumbling and reloading. Keeps the tumbling media cleaner & longer. Scratched a sizing die and some cases prior to doing depriming as a separate operation. Found where the scratch was and polished it out with 400 & 600 grit silicon carbide paper. Then spent the next 15 minutes cleaning out the die. Tested with some old cases and no scratches. Frank

Myself I have never bothered with cleaning the inside while using a single case and smokeless. What might one think the ill affects could actually by not taking the time to do so?

Me either.
I think if you have to size then wiping the inside and outside of the neck may help .
I just wipe them over with a old rag of Ed’s red.
Or polish or such.
I can’t see myself throwing all my perfectly formed brass in a container and bashing them around for a few hrs.
The cleaning solution must get shot out with each shot in the bore as well.
I will own up to cleaning a couple of batches of brass before ..
About every three or four years I must forget.
But after cleaning 50 or a hundred cases with copious amounts of build up out of them by hand I am cured of such uncouth behaviour.

I mate said try my ultrasonic he says.
Cleans them good he said
Real easy.
Ha Angry my ears haven’t recovered from that vibration squealing thing and took like 20 goes to clean out my dirty brass.

Bahh humbug to you shiny brass lovers.
I have watched some top tier benchrest shooters using jacketed but....they only wipe the outside and run a brush thou the neck cos they size maybe a thou for some neck tension to keep their bullets aligned.
Do this little black duck.
