What did you settle on for a suitable bullet and powder charge?  I have a virtually identical 9.5x47R rifle on a 71 Mauser, an under-lever sporting single shot, plus another single shot Schuetzen coming.  All in 9.5x47R.

I may have passed my "Best Before" date, but I haven't quite reached my "Expiry" date yet ...

Its a box my Dad put together and not sure where he got the design from. the two rifle "holders" at each end of the box pull out and lay flat so you can put a lid on it. Room inside for tools, ammo cleaning gear etc. It was actually put together for a 25/20 ss M54 Stevens that I now have. The Stevens is an original action but rebuilt and engraved through CPA probably ten or more years ago.

Only using Black Powder at this stage. Not sure where the mould came from but it may have been made by one of our local club members

Not really competitive at present as I was shooting ammo that my Dad loaded in order to get the cases emptied. I call it mystery ammo as every round varies (other than being loaded with Black Powder). Different primers, different seating depths etc. But it is a good fun shoot and I enjoyed it all the same

Here are a couple of pictures of the target. It is an original cast iron target. South Australia had a large German immigrant population when the state was founded back in 1836 and as a result their style of shooting found favour in some areas.

The shoot has simple rules:
Black Power Rifles - any calibre, any style, iron sights
Off hand at 100m
12 shots each for the day
You fire your short, its scored and then the next shooter comes to the line
Stop for lunch after 6 rounds
Next 6 rounds after lunch
Centre Bull is a 13 which pops up a little flag for all to see if you hit it

It was a cold wet miserable day (by our standards) but we still had 18 competitors.

The winner used a 32/20 Remington Rolling Block, 2nd place was a repro muzzle loading rifle of English long range style in 451 cal (I think) using paper patched bullets.

There is one other similar target still being used at the Hahndorf Rifle Club and one other that is being used as a well cover on a golf course that we are aware of

G,day,  pic taken June 2016,a crusty old bunch we are it’s a great match ,shot two or three time a year @the Adelaide Black Powder Club.I am the old bald guy next to the bloke holding the Rolling Block, he was the overall winner on the day shooting a 40/65 Swede Roller. Nothing like the sound of a 400gn pill hitting the cast iron target.

            Cheers Mal in au.

Tis very thick, and may well be cast steel, not sure!! Jacketed rounds may inflict permanent damage!! Most cast pills landed would start out @ 1200to1400 FPS, just a big lead smudge..In olden days the scorer had a hidy hole and would jump out and indicate as to the score, he would then paint out the smudge clean for the next shooter. The 13 ring(bull) was moveable and tripped the indicator to signal the score when struck. Very tricky!!

Cheers Mal in au.

Ok lets just call it a steel target, or a cast target...lol plus it is about 2" thick, if you have a close look at the target, you can see that each "ring" and each of the "ring numbers" are either cast in or milled and are recessed.

Years ago I picked up some railroad plates!
They make excellent targets for my cast bullet shooting blackpowder or smokeless!2
