Tis very thick, and may well be cast steel,not sure!! Jacketed rounds may inflict permanent damage!! Most cast pills landed would start out @ 1200to1400 FPS, just a big lead smudge..In olden days the scorer had a hidy hole and would jump out and indicate as to the score, he would then paint out the smudge clean for the next shooter. The 13 ring(bull) was moveable and tripped the indicator to signal the score when struck. Very tricky!!

Ok lets just call it a steel target, or a cast target...lol plus it is about 2" thick, if you have a close look at the target, you can see that each "ring" and each of the "ring numbers" are either cast in or milled and are recessed.

Years ago I picked up some railroad plates!
They make excellent targets for my cast bullet shooting blackpowder or smokeless!2
