It's actually better to just send a couple of the original bullets out of Jerry's Mos Mould to Steve Brooks and it would then come back as being what you actually want. I too have the same Mos mould as Jerry but unfortunately I don't currently have the time to cast any to send on someone's behalf. I am currently working on other projects for friends and need to concentrate all my time on getting them finished so they can get back out and continue shooting or I glady would.

It is NOT, actually better to send a bullet! A drawing has defined perimeters. Someone that has no machinist skills and ability to measure accurately, won't know if he got what he ordered, unless he can compare it to a drawing.

If there is a deviation, between what is asked for in a drawing, you can specify it. Such as the grooves where suppose to be X and they are Y. There is no defense on the machinist part.

Note also that the nose profile is completely different on the Brooks vs Mos bullet. Brooks, completely missed the perimeters of the drawing.

I bought this mold from the person that had it made, because I liked the nose profile better and I can ream the grooves, out to where they should be but, If I had, ordered this and wanted a exact copy, I would have had to send it back.

As every machinist knows, if you do not make a part to the drawing, it's scrap! At least to the customer ordering it.

Critter: If you want your mold in less than 2 weeks, send the drawing to Tom at Accurate molds.  I received my last Accurate mold in 6 days: date of order to date of delivery

All his molds are CNC cut and the mold will made in your choice of metal - brass or aluminum and choice of number of cavities
Be sure to specify the alloy for the mold because his standard cuts are based on Lyman #2

JB, I'd inquire at Accurate about their minimum diameter and size on the flat of the nose that their tooling requires. They may not take on this design.

Craig - all listed on the website:

Considerations for New Designs

Before requesting a new design, please note my tooling limitations:

    Maximum bullet length is 1.375"
No round nose, and no spitzer. My tooling requires a .18" minimum diameter flat nose (meplat).
No groove or boat-tail or heel which is more than .06" smaller diameter than the bands above it. Example: .460" bullet, lube or boat-tail diameter cannot be less than .400".
Minimum groove diameter of .255", so 30 caliber is about as small as I can do. 7mm will have shallow grooves and no gas check.
No square grooves, or square shoulders. I require a minimum 55 degree (from the bullet's axis) bevel.

Smallest mold in the catalog - take it from there ...

Worth an email with the diagram for 257

So, in reality, Accurate can not make a 25 cal, GG bullet.

Thank you for posting that, I didn't know they had that limitation.

Arsenal molds will do anything from a 22 rimfire on up. I don't think he offers steel, only brass and aluminum. Last time it was a few weeks turn around.

So you actually have the cherry that Mos used to make Jerry H's mold? Or you you have the cherry that Barry made, to copy a Mos 25?

I know of 3 different Mos 25 cal molds, all a little different.

Joe you are indeed correct on how David went about cutting his moulds. I have talked to him about the process he used on several occasions. Frank believe as you might Barry taught me how to make my own cherries while he lived here with myself and my family for abit over a couple of years. Barry sold all of his Cherries and prior too he also offered them to myself. The only one I told him I would like to have was the cylindrical 32 Flat Nose cherrie that he, Bob Meyer's, Claude Roderick and myself all set new ASSRA 100yd. group or group average records with and the only one I have been so extremely blessed to have handed down to me.
