First try at breech seating results part 1

I went to the range this morning armed with my new to me original HiWall in 32/40 ready to give breech seating a try.  New to this and not being very organized I forgot my depriming tools so I was limited to the 10 cases I had on hand.  I had vials of premeasured loads of IMR 4227 and 4759.  Conditions were perfect with a light fog and winds from the west at 2-3 mph.  I shot at 50 yards so I could see my sights better!  Bullets were a Saeco 170 grain tapered of unknown alloy purchased from the Bullshop.  I rested the barrel on the bags for this session.  The first 5 shot group was with 14.0 gr of IMR 4227 and a post from aperture held at 6 o'clock.  Nothing to brag about but promising.  The tool was a push type supplied with the rifle with a case made from this chamber.  The second group was fired with 13.0 grs of IMR 4227 and an aperture front sight that I could control windage somewhat better than using the flat post in group 1.  Still nothing to brag about but a start! The first photo is of group 1 with holes from the 19 ring to the 24 ring.  The second photo is in the white above the bull from 12 to 17.    My bag techniques need some work but I think I can shrink the groups considerably as I get used to the rifle and trigger.  The bullets seated fairly easily but the fired cases had residue on them and I had to clean the seating tool between groups.  That lends me to think IMR 4227 is dirty or I need to bump up the charge ever so slightly.  I was using large rifle primers as I don't have any pistol primers.  Tom

First things first bump up your load to 14 ½ grains of 4227 when I started out that was pretty much a standard load for 32-40. You are showing tipping at 50 yards that tells me the bullet is running out of gas.
4759 is nice powder for the 32-40 but they don't make it any more so unless you’re sitting on 20 or 30 pounds of it, I wouldn’t put a lot of effort there.
As to your bullet I’m going to go out on a limb here, right bullet wrong alloy. The SEACO tapered bullet is a fine bullet to start with but most commercial casting places cast them out of Linotype or something harder. This is way too hard for successful breech-seating. You will want to start at 25 : 1, Lead : Tin.
Keep it up when you get it right it will be a tack driver.
