I've owned several in the original version that Winchester copied; the .25-36 Marlin. Pretty much the exact same case, with slightly different shoulder angle. 
Mine have always like the NOE 117 gr. bullet I use, and shot extremely well out to 300 yds. But I've played with them at further distances also, and it still shoots good groups.
A newer version with modern barrel and a tighter twist might get even better accuracy than my 125 year old gun does. But mine has a nice bore, with 1:9 original twist rate.

Depends on what your planned use is really? If it's plinking, or schuetzen matches, I'd probably go the .25-20WCF. A better choice, and more efficient too. If it might be used as a deer rifle, or varmint gun, then I'd prefer the .25-35 myself.

I've always had a soft spot for the cartridge and have had it in a couple of Winchester lever actions.  Missed out on a High Wall that had been re-barreled and chambered in .25-35 Ackley Improved by Parker Ackley himself.  It belonged to one of the old timers who was a member in one of my local gun clubs.  By the time I heard that he had passed away it had already been sold by the family along with many other interesting guns.  Always regretted not having an opportunity to buy that rifle ...

A similar case but easier to form is the .25 Rem formed using .30-30 brass.
Works like a .25-35 but looks a little more modern.

.30 Remington brass is still available and can be necked down very easily to .25 Remington.  I buy it and neck it up to .32 Remington to feed my Remington Model 141 pump rifle in that chambering.

Not a single shot, but I have been having wonderful fun with a Winchester Mod. 1892 chambered in .25-20 WCF.  I bought it somewhat "by accident" on GB earlier last year.  Put in a bid I thought would be trumped and ended up owning it!  The little lever rifle is surprisingly accurate and so much fun to plink with.

Now back to good old American single shot rifles.  I have a Stevens 44-1/2 chambered in .25-20 SS.  I just love that rifle also.  It is equipped with a tang aperture sight and Lee Shaver front aperture sight.  When I do my part it is extraordinarily accurate.

With either of the .25-20 rounds you have a bit of trouble with brass.  For now, Bertram is the only choice for the Stevens round, and that gets expensive.  You would think the WCF round would be readily available, but it is not.  Shooters are left with the task of necking down .32-20 brass.

I've not owned a .25-35, but it should be a fine rifle.  You might find it has a bit more case capacity than you really need, particularly if you intend to shoot cast bullets.

Thanks for the offer, but I'm sitting on several hundred and don't think I'll ever get around to loading some of them.  I tend to shoot the same 50 or so until I wear them out and the Remington 141 is basically a deer hunting rifle, so it sees maybe a box or two a year through it.
