It appear to me to be a variation on a Snyder.  But whatever it is, and a bit over-gussied-up at that, for less than $200, it would've gone home with me, too!

Is the barrel also marked "A. S."?

Well I don't have it yet it was just shipped so next week I will take it out of the stock and report what I have found according to the auction guy it has no other markings just 25 on the barrel and A.S. on the lock plate. They did say it has a pr Cooloof mark so we will see I will post as soon as I get it.... CANT wait to Shoot it!!!

Not much comment on your very nice rifle.

I've not seen anything like it and would cherish it if it where in my collection.

I'll be looking forward to your finding and pictures, when you get it.

Must be a metallic ctg gun.  As said, "Snyder like"

No small problem, if it's actually .25RF.  Having once bought at auction a .22LR that turned out to be a .25-20 SS, I wouldn't assume it's what it's claimed to be.  Didn't European makers usually assign metric designations when chambering for US-designed cartridges?

after a good lookin over and some measuring/pondering  if it is 25rf I plan on using
Ramset 5RS27 27 cal loads behind  a .25 lead ball

cheap fun and easy to get I have shot this in a 25 RF before with great success got a couple of squirrels in my backyard that keep eating holes in the siding of my house. Cool.....

A little flashy, but a very nice rifle.
Hope it's a centerfire, ya never know!
Best of luck!

* Are you sure the Ramset primer rim diameters are the same for a 25 RF case which is the same diameter as a 25 Hornet?
* Also, where are you finding the 25RF cases?

If it's a Stevens 25 CF ...

This is what I know:
I had a 25RF Stevens rifle and the .27 ramset power loads fit in it quite nicely I fired a few blanks after that I put a lead ball in front of the Ramset then pushed in the Ramset and got a darn good grouping.. I can not take credit for this abomination I found it online on another shooting site. I will measure the ramset blanks and post the diameter.
I also do not recommend this process . The Ramset power loads also come in 3 varieties RED being the most powerful. If I try this with this gun depending on how it measures up I would start with the lower loads.
