I've used my Maynard shotgun for years.  It's part of a two barrel set, the rifle being a 40/40.  My load has been 75 gr of FF and an equal volume of shot.  I've shot quail, chucker, pheasant, squirrel and even shot back up for two buddies shooting skeet--I was using #6 shot so I had a little more range than they did.  The shotgun is so light and easy to swing, the load is great, so that the combo takes no backseat to any modern gun other than being a single shot.

I am saddened by this news. He was a favorite among us here on this forum. We have lost a pal- but his parter and brother have lost much more- may the Lord hold them close while they go forward in life. Thanks Al.

I'm so troubled to learn that Reverend Al is no longer with us. I always took note of his posts, and learned a thing or two from him in my quest for more knowledge on the quirky little Maynard rifles.

May God comfort his family and friends...

We talked Maynards many times by e-mail. He was certainly an enthusiastic collector and he will be missed on this forum for sure. RIP Reverend Al
