918 Lbs of Lead Now Ingots

I took all my "little ingots" - 1/2lb up to 2lb muffins and melted them into 6 lb ingots.  The 918 lbs is comprised of 17 different alloys from pure Pb up to Linotype @ 20.6 Bhn
All 6 pounders are now alloy & Bhn marked (spent some time with the lead tester for the little ones that I never alloy marked)
Now to move the ingots to a cleaned out space in the basement and prepare a spreadsheet so I know what I have - At Last  Grin

A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools !

I picked up 1,000 # of pure lead for $900. Lead casing 1/4"around 3" copper wire from an Industrial site. They ran A skill saw down the wire and just peeled the casing off. Cut it into 3' pieces. Should keep me busy this spring......

Sounds like old phone wiring for underground use Pete. I used to salvage it off jobs regularly when I was a construction electrician. But it got to where every guy on the job was competing to grab it for fishing sinkers.

Of the 918 lbs, 336lbs is all sheet lead from the recycle centers.  Average price for the 99.5% Pb, believe Class is C type. Was 60 to 85 cents a pounds

August: Have a floor pallet with casters - supports 300 lbs.  Did a trial run this AM and mod is needed. Drill 2 holes & attach a rope. Then pallet pulled instead of pushed
