Husqvarna rifle question

I was just needing some help with a 45/70 Husqvarna single shot. But it is bolt action. Is that allowed and not frowned upon. Thanks

Just went looking online to see what you had and I see that it is a scaled down 71 Mauser type action that was available as a Model 25 (1908-1925) in 25-20 and 32-20, and as a Model 35 (1912-1942) in 30-30, and 45-70. Checkered semi pistol grip stock and 25 inch barrel. Weight about 6 pounds - 45-70 ouch! Simpson has some for $240 to $500 and it looks like it is quite common to have a missing extractor. What do you need?

Thanks for that. It is a model 45 I believe. I've had it for a long time, It is about in as new condition. I was trying to find out it's value. I couldn't find any for sale in the recent past. It does shoot all right. I used trapdoor strength loads.

Yep I looked at Simpsons, but no 45/70 and the highest dollar 30/30 has a cracked stock. Not quite the same. I'll keep looking.

One just sold on GunsAmerica but they don't show the sale price. Here's one: (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links) There's one for sale in the UK for 525 Pounds ono. One sold on GunAction for $631.99. IN 2009 one sold on Gunboards for $325. In 2013 one sold on the Swedish Auctionnet for 145 Euros;-) I would guess that if Simpsons had one it would be in the $500 range or so. If I had one, it wouldn't be for sale.

A few years ago, a fellow club member bought one in 45-70 from Henry Kranks. It had been in a rack in the shop where it could be freely handled and sure enough the extractor was missing----they just drop out when you pull the bolt out.
Kranks located a drawing and had a new one CNC machined---superb service.

I think that the extractor thing must be endemic to 71 Mauser type actions. I have two 71s and one was missing its extractor. I had the one off the other rifle copied. The extractor was changed for the 71/84. Also, I got to thinking about Simsons. It's in Canada, right? So the prices must be in Canadian dollars which are worth 75 US cents. There are some real bargains on that site.

At least the (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links) I have visited several times is in Gainsburg, Ill, birthplace of Carl Sandburg (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links) or (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links). Bought several Husqvarnas from them.

By golly you're right. Simpsons is in Galesburg, IL. OK, so a buck is a buck and not a loonie. While that doesn't make rifles sound so cheap, it does eliminate worrying about importing.
