As I was perusing eBay I found this lot. Looked like an interesting bit of history. Some medals and bars from the 30s and 50s

Those are some nifty bits of history. I tossed mine in a drawer. Maybe someday they'll show up on Fleabay as old medals from the 1980's and 90's?

Here is an interesting item one of our old long gone club members passed on to me. The Charles E. "Buddy" Rogers trophy. Buddy was a nice guy and collector of .22 boxes. Plate is sterling silver and the gold coin is real. Stared in "WINGS" and married Mary Pickford.

This one has a bit of gold according to a stamp on back. About $20 at scrap price.

Even if it's quite worn, that "bit of gold" is at least an American $5 gold piece, worth considerable more than $20 scrap. And if it's actually a $10 piece, or guessing that the note itself says "$20"and it's a $20 piece, you're looking at a good number of hundreds of dollars scrap. In any case, it's a wonderful trophy plaque!

Love the plaque, just wish I could read what it says. That is right at the time break (1920’s and after) where medals and trophy’s really went to heck (JMO)

Now that you've clarified what the coin is, I can say that it's scrap/melt value alone (as approx. 3.75 gr. of pure gold) is currently between $150 and $160. Good catch, indeed!
