Ballards may be weaker,
but they sure are neater!

I wonder what the target's actual dimensions were, and if it was likely shot at 200 yds. or meters?

Maybe I can get out to Westfield and see if the folks at Savage would allow a reprint.  It is special that it still exists. Thanks for sharing it.

Sorry For the extra post but the distance the at Greenville Schuetzen Park was 200 yards. The Park was also known as Armbruster's Shooting Park Greenville NJ.

Ross was Pope's assistant at Stevens. He made his  barrels through the whole of Pope's time at Stevens. He did not mark his barrels with his name but some have, under the forearm, an R with a number. Ross barrels are very rare. The first 44 1/2 had a Ross barrel and I have S/N 674, which is very early, with a Ross barrel. He stayed at Stevens until 1913, long after Pope left. They remained good friends. Stevens made the left hand twist Stevens Pope barrels till the end.
