If you have to ask the price, you can't afford it.

It's a common cartridge but it's still made the same way, same cost.  I'm sure (think) there are a few that want it with that head stamp? - they've been asked to make it???
It's not that I can't afford it- I won't- too many other directions that I part with my $$

This is an interesting topic. I have a drawer with several bags of 30-30 brass in it, some is Winchester, some is Federal....friends have given me this stuff. I usually shoot 32-40, and my favorite cases are Federal 30-30's which have been sized in a 32-40 die and then fire-formed. The 30-30 cases are slightly shorter than 32-40's and then after fire forming, I trim the mouths of cases to square them up. I have never found any problems from shooting 30-30 brass in a 32-40. Is there something here that I'm missing? Is there any advantage to shooting a slightly longer case?  Huh

Are you aware that these are lathe turned brass out of bar stock?

Wish them all the luck, but the good folks at Rocky Mountain have a tough time making a go of it....
Not sure why anyone would want to go that route for 38-55, but outfits like this are handy for someone to get a box of brass for some oddball gun that brass isn't readily available for.

I’ve gotten .22-15-60, .25-25 and .32 Ideal brass from them, and it’s good stuff.

If you don’t want the “default” dimensions from SAAMI or COTW, they will change them for you at your request.

Full marks to anybody with the cojones to get into the obsolete brass market.  As unhappy history has shown, it isn’t the high road to riches and fame.

Using cases shorter than spec can cause feeding and accuracy issues, so it depends on how often you clean, what you are shooting, fouling ........

You get a carbon build up where the neck should be in the chamber, so basically you change the size and shape reducing it randomly.

Most common problem would probably be hard chambering or extraction mixing long and short cases. In theory you could probably end up with pressure problems if you were shooting max loads.

Would be surprised if this isn't a sideline for a shop whose cash flow comes from other business.  Price reflects what they can make using those CNC lathes for that other business.  Ten years age when I retired a typical chargeout rate for a small CNC lathe was $75/hr.  (I was buying machine tool time quite often in that job.)  Gotta be closer to $100 by now.  CAD time ditto.

If I wanted something special, like everlasting style cases for instance, then I could see going this route.

Roberson is not Rocky Mountain Cartridge, although both companies make their brass the same way.

As for why, I'd say it's not something the majority of shooters would pay for a fairly common case. But I know some serious shooters who used RMC lathe turned brass for extremely common calibers like .45-70, where they could have bought the brass for 1/4th of RMC's price. They just wanted the highest quality they could buy, and had the extra funds to do so.
I bought an estate of a shooter who only bought the finest guns and loading accessories. He owned Shiloh Sharps and Ballard Rifle Co. single shots, and his brass was all RMC. I sold most everything, but decided to keep the RMC .45-70 cases for my own use. Not sure I'm a good enough shooter to appreciate how good this brass is, but it certainly is the best brass I own.
I have RMC brass for my .44-100 Ballard and a few other oddball cartridges. But I'd never pay the price for RMC or Roberson lathe turned brass in common calibers, unless I got a great deal on them used.

If they were the only ones who had it and you didn't have any why wouldn't you.

This would be a good option if you wanted a reduced capacity case for instance.
Say a 32-40 with same capacity as .32 Miller Short to experiment with.
