Looks like a regular Ideal Perfection mold with a Winchester sprue plate on it. Is it marked "Winchester"?

Does certainly look like Winchester copied Ideal's mold, or maybe someone fitted the Ideal Perfection adjustment to a Winchester mold?

If they fitted it to the Winchester mold the Winchester mold would have had to been a nose pour. I don't know everything about antique molds but I've never seen a nose pore Winchester

When it shows up, I think we'd all like to see some better closeup shots of that one. For my money, it's an Ideal that's seen a little rework.
For whatever it's worth, I've tried using a perfection mold and had the devil's own time with it. I couldn't change a long-time rhythm of casting over the pot to raise it every time to clear the screw. Constantly bumping it against the edge. Or, when I remembered, dipping the adjustment screw into the lead or snagging it on the way out. Neither is comforting with twenty pounds of molten metal in front of a person. Bullets didn't work in any event, so problem solved. Good luck

I agree with you calledflyer .I had Eric at hollow point mold service make me a Perfection type mold for a 30 caliber that and it was just awkward. The one I hadn't do had an adjustable nose length I just took a 311291 and he bored it to .302 in the nose with a little truncated cone profile.

I haven't seen one either. But I have seen molds converted to nose pour, and every time I notice the stamps on the block and mold blocks are off centerline to the handles.
From looking at the image it's clear that the nose side of that mold is closer to center of the handles than the base side. Maybe it was made that way, or maybe it was milled off to make it a nose pour?

when the mold shows up from Seattle to my door I'll take pictures and post them.
I'm going to be down hopefully by the end of the year of visiting our friend Bob Mills. Would be nice to get together and maybe have lunch or something all three of us.

The sprue plate on a Lyman perfection has the cut off handle on the right side of the mould and the one shown has it located at the front of the mould. If that might be some help as it would be a bit challenging to modify a Lyman and relocate it. If so there would be a couple of empty holes from the old stop pin location and the old sprue plate attachment screw location.

Since it's Winchester marked, there is also the possibility that Winchester contracted with Ideal to make the molds for them.

Frank,

I like your idea about WRA contracting with Ideal.    Smiley
That mould hinge does look like Ideal's design... WRA placed a washer at the joint that's visible in between the two halves on all the WRA moulds that I have.
