The one below I made for myself has four alignment pins and I personally think it a big plus. Doesn't require any more work really other than the time it takes for a couple of more holes and pins and that is very minimal. One top pin appears to be protruding more than others and the others a bit shallow the picture was taken right after cutting the mould and they were not fully adjusted yet.

Nice work. I would be proud to use one of yours. Could I be one of your friends?

Nice work indeed. It looks similar to the Pope / Lyman No. 308403 ?

Not real familiar with the one you mentioned. The one shown is a 28 and weighs depending on alloy around 152grs. and for a 10 twist barrel. I made three but not all with four pins, one for myself, one I made and gifted to Jerry Hartwig that he uses in his 28-35SS for offhand and one I wasn't overly excited about. Actually it was the first one I gifted to Jerry and I replaced it with mine and then cut the one shown for myself for my 28-35ss. In mild conditions it shoots extremely well and some of the smallest groups either five or ten that I have shot at 200yds. off the bench. When it gets rough it tends to wonder off a bit to much for me to keep up with just from simply not spending enough time to fully understand it.

I'm surprised that you don't understand, it is what you asked, when you asked if NOE molds had still bushing in their molds for the locating pins. The reason that I ask, is that I can not see any and as brass is a soft material, the still pins would wear the brass, fairly fast.

I have only owned one aluminum mould in the past seventeen years and that pretty much speaks for itself. I do like Brass allot and the material I choose to make my own moulds out of. If the NOE's don't have still inserts for the alignment pins one just needs to be a bit more careful not to wear the alignment holes out of round. To me Brass casts a better quality bullet than the various Iron moulds such as Cast etc. but that's just my own personal opinion.

On the OP’s question—Good.  Like many, I have an easier time opening sprue plates that have the tab on the right side (a la Ideal) rather than sticking out from the front (a la Winchester) but both are eminently usable, and I’m glad I can get what I want, whatever the configuration.

Despite Jones, Mos and Melander being out of the picture, this is still the Golden Age for custom moulds.

It never ceases to amaze me how many items that used to be only available via mass production from a few big manufacturing companies can be produced in quantity in small shops, and even home shops any more.

These are the Good Old Days.

Premod70 I too like the cut off handle on the right and a bit longer than some provide. I also prefer the thicker sprue plates that for some reason not all mould makers are willing to provide.
