A friend picked up a Stevens 44 1/2 that turned out to be chambered for 25-21 and is wondering where’s the best place to look for brass?

There's always the somewhat lengthy process of making them from .223 brass. Takes a lathe to turn down the case body above the rim, but I made some when I owned a Stevens in this caliber, and it wasn't hard to do. Just time consuming.

How short of 2" did the converted .223 cases end up after sizing?

I don't recall now, as it's been many years ago since I did them? But seems they were still 1/8" short once reformed, and fired.

That would make sense.

A .222 magnum might actually work then, it's about .100" longer. Just a lot harder to find for free Undecided

Seems I recall BACO selling stretched .223 cases reformed to .25-21 at one time? Think it was before Jamison began their runs of it? Too bad Jamison failed. Wish Hornady would expand their runs of oddball brass. For awhile Hornady was really making progress on oddball brass. But they've cut back on some I can't get anymore, like .405 brass.
