Ross .280 rifles - how good a fit on this forum?

Generally, given most .280 Ross rifles are chambered in bolt action repeating rifles (e.g. the M10 or the Scotch Deerstalker), logic would suggest they are not a great fit here.  However... (let me try my first photo attempt)

Anyone else have a rifle like one of these?  Or know someone who has one?  Or seen one before?

This is probably my fault -- a year or two ago, I posted a query about the feasibility of paper-patching jacketed bullets.  Several people responded telling of experiences or citing publications of PP'ing jacketed bullets.  The ROSS, of course, would be one of the natural applications of this, owing to its unusual bore dimensions.  The topic has cropped up a couple of times since then.  Since it doesn't really fit in this forum, and is probably not a matter of general interest, we could (should?) limit ourselves to private communications.

Chris -

Thank you for your thoughts.  The paper patching of .280 Ross bullets is a tangential interest.  I wondered if the Ross rifles I have pictured are of interest on this forum?  These three rifles are single-shot target rifles known as the Ross M1905-1910 model.  Their sole function was to win matches - and they did.  I thought as such, they might fit into this forum.

M1905-1910? So do they have dual lugs like a 1905 or multiple rows of lugs like a 1910 or what?

Yes, the M1905-1910 Match Target Rifle was equipped with a multi-lug bolt head.  The bolt head more closely resembles the multi-lug bolt head of the M1907 Scotch Deer Stalking Sporting rifle.

I had a 1910 Sporter.  Looked at it for a bit.  Decided the stories had some basis in fact.  Traded it for a No. 5 roller.

Ballards may be weaker,

Although I think the Ross rifles shown are neat, they're probably off topic for an ASSRA forum. Would be great if we had an Off Topic forum where they could be discussed though.

I wasn't sure.  While these three are single-shot match target rifles, I did note the first name in this forum is American, not, North American.  The Rosses being of Canadian manufacture of course.

Thing is we don't talk much about bolt actions.
Plenty of topics on German single shots, for example, so it's not national.
We speak mostly of falling, rolling, and tilting block rifles

Yes, I doubt anyone has an issue with point of origin for single shot rifles here.
