Breach seated I see no reason why it would not be one of the best for 1/4 bore competitive use. I have a 10 Twist BRC Blank for the sole purpose of finding out just how well it will shoot. I just need to order the chambering reamer to my own specs. and I already have a Mos 120gr. Spizter mould that should serve that purpose very well. I have had great success with my 28-35SS and its actualy why I now want to purse the 25-35 as it should shoot just as well with a little time and effort spent. The current plan is to put it on my CPA Schuetzen Jr. using the existing forearm for the sake of simplicity and for it to also look correct / match the rifle's existing wood and it's checkering. Should it work out as expected my friends could then very easily re-chamber their various 25's should the urge to do so arise based on my outcome as it too is also a big part of the overall plan in searching for something possibly better than what they already have.

Ballards may be weaker,

I have the Marlin predecessor, the .25-36 M and even with fixed ammo it's extremely accurate. If your .25-35 has a great bore, there's no reason it wont shoot well.
I use 117 gr. cast lead in mine, as my twist rate is 1:9" and it likes bullets in that weight range.

Myself I have never had any luck with the small capacity cases and not from a lack of trying as I have tried several. The other nice thing about the 25-35 case is I will be able to push the velocity well beyond my actual needs while also having no issues in doing just that. On the only negative side there might be a little premature throat wear and will just have to wait and see how that might turn out. But for me it won't be an issue should that end up being the case barrel blanks are cheap and the reamer will last a lifetime. The pluses are to numerous to mention from the cases being readily available from Hornady and the case life,  to being able to use large rifle or pistol primers and being able to achieve velocities well beyond what any of the small capacity cases can now achieve. And if for any reason it just simply does not workout I already have a 25Hornet reamer sitting in my safe it being my second choice for building an already proven and very competitive 25 of which to my dislike of the small capacity cases it is also one I hope I never have to use.

I spent a lotf time and money on the 25 Kraig, same time good friend of mine shot his 25/30. Nearly identical CPAs

Wish I had set the gun up as 25/35 and may set the barrel back and re-chamber to the 30. Kraig works good it’s just a lot of trouble and no better in any area than the 25/35 . My opinion it’s the best 25.

I shoot a 1/9 twist Douglas barrel in my original Stevens set up to hunt with.  It is very accurate with knackered bullets and is a real pleasure to shoot off of the bench.  I have looked long and hard for a Wilson neck die but to no avail.  I am also starting to fine tune my loads with Hornady brass and move away from the Winchester brass if the Hornady proves better.  Tom

Bulseyetom -  what I have done many times when Wilson neck dies were not available, is to send a 7/8 standard size die or neck die to Jim Carstensen, and he will set the die up for wilson neck bushings. The last I had done a year or so ago, he charged 50 dollars shipped. I have had numerous dies altered, and the result has always been wonderful. If you want to full length and size the neck, send a full length size die, or a neck die if you wish to size the neck only. I will find his information and post tomorrow. At that time, he was still offering the service. He is a very competetive benchrest shooter, and his work reflects that. The charge is eventually repaid in full with the longer lasting brass.

CH4D has neck sizing dies that use interchangeable bushings. They are indispensable if you want precise neck tension.  Fast shippers with plenty of inventory too.

I think can’t say sure Wilson is owned by one of the big outfits now. Bean counters probably restricting stock on hand.

To my knowledge, L E Wison is still owned and run by the family, and has been since 1927.

Thanks RK.  He made me a die for my 7mm Krag Improved once and I agree the work was excellent.  Tom

My mistake. It’s Sinclair that sold out to Brownells
