Good deal today - steel rod

I work close to the Washington State surplus retail store.  It is a 10 min walk and most weekdays, I take my morning break and get there at opening to look for deals.  You never know what they will have.  They sell the knives and other items that the TSA confiscates and  whatever state agencies and schools send them.  Tons of furniture and some usually well worn power tools.  Today, the guy that prices items said he had something for me since he knows I do some metal working.  He had a 5 1/2 foot piece of 1 3/8" steel rod and a piece 1" x 6+ feet.  I said how much?  5 bucks each he said. Got my car and picked them up. I don't know my steel, but it cuts easily and took some Oxpho-Blue.  Project time !!!

Rebar is usually cheaper than good steel.

Maybe if I can find a good deal on the machines at surplus Smiley  I am hoping they get in some more lathes in good shape.  They have had a few, but they are usually very large in often in bad shape.

Last year i scored a box of 14 AR carry handles for $15.  Made over $500 selling them.  I have found a few nice end mills and taps.  I picked up 7 brand new UB 5/16-18 taps last week for $10.

Dave, I bet Tom paid more than 5 bucks for that rebar.  Now that that barrel is famous it should end up in a museum.
