Unknown 28 Cal mold

I got my latest eBay purchase today, a brass 28 cal nose pour mold.  The only marking is a '28' on the side.

It casts a 134.5 bullet (20-1) .912 long and has a .285 base band with the next band at .280 and the remainder at .275

Any idea of who may have made it?

Here are some photos.  Now I just need a .28 cal rifle!

It casts very nicely.  It has seen some use but the cavity is in good condition.  Just need to get the RKS barrels from Canada.  It may be spring before I can shoot it.
Vall,
You can send me one of your rifles and I will test it for you!

Nice looking mold. Reminds me of a Henry Beverage nose pour mold I once had in .32 cal.

As soon as I saw it, I said to myself, "Beverage"; so I'm casting my vote with Randy and Joe.

If I'm not mistaken there was  an article written about Henry Beverage in early '70's in the Rifle or Handloader Magazine.

I have two Beverage Brass, Nose pour molds.  .32 and .38. These are both Tapered as in a Pope style. Come to heat quickly and cast really nice. He liked brass for these reasons and because it cut nicely and his Cherry's lasted longer. This Mold looks very much like mine. It should also be Tapered I suspect. HTH Regards, FITZ. Very kind of you to offer the bullets Jack! I'd love to try a few and see how they work in my Pope barrel. I'm using an old Ideal mold presently, and it's a bit heavier than I prefer. Shoots pretty good, but it's a 154 gr. mold and I'm curious how it might shoot with a lighter bullet?

I only have 11 right now.  I will probably be casting some 38 cal bullets later this week and will cast up a few more of the 28s.

PM me your address and i will mail them to you.  May be next year before i head south again.

Jack what are you looking for in a 28 my 28-35SS has treated me very well right out of the gate. It's actually pretty much the same case as Valls 28 Pope according to his correspondence in regards to it being the same. Extremely user friendly and it has remained extremely competitive over the past three years since I built the rifle around a FBW's Model J action in the traditional Schuetzen design. Barrel is a 12 twist Douglas, bullet 158 grains, best load 12.1 grains 300MP and I have taken it over 13 grains with no pressure signs or issues but it does appear the bullet is then being over spun a bit and is just not as day in, day out and year round onsistent in the various conditions as the 12.1 grain load has proven to be. New 25-35 Hornady brass is also readily available for less than forty dollars for 50 each and it only takes expanding the neck and I am good to go. I haven't lost a single case in three years now and I have been basically been using the same one for breech seating. If memory serves me right we now have eight maybe nine in our group all chambered with the same reamer the last on a Borchardt I recently did for a friend and they all have been shooting extremely well. With the exception of the Borchardt an RKS gain twist that finishes at 9 the rest have all been Douglas XX 12 twists. The bullet for the RKS is 183 grains and I have cut the moulds for just about all of them now any where from a truncated bore rider of which I now use to a Spitzer and a Flat nose and they all seem to shoot equally as well. The FN is a bit more sensitive in the wind but on a fair day provides for some remarkably small 200yd.10 shot groups. Just something maybe to consider with the case also being traditional as Valls 28 Pope has now proven it to be. Had that been known prior to us calling it a 28-35SS and now marked it would have probably been referred to as simply being a 28 Pope as I believe our case fits in Vall's chamber if I am not mistaken.
