gris, the most common I have seen have been new Lead Bullet shooters sticking Groove size bullet in a case. Not noticing the slight Bulge at the front. When they cannot chamber the round they get fresh with it and try to force it. Only gets more stuck. So then they take a Cleaning Rid and try to drive it out, bullet bumps up and gets more stuck, so then they try to drive it out harder, stuck even more now. If I am around to tell them my procedure and they do it they usually come out all right. Now the other with Jacketed bullets. Yes no fire because of a Primer or no Powder. .222 Rem is one of the worst. Many shots through a M700 or 40X worst shell extractor in the world I think. Stuck case with the Bullet out into the throat but not loose. Get the cleaning rod and give it a solid bang. OOps this bullet is now bumped up and is stuck tighter. Still the best I have found is the procedure I originally described. A little messy as when you get it to push out with Hydraulic pressure a
barrel full of Oil immediately drools right into your action all over the place. I have used this procedure probably 20 or more times, NEVER damaged a Rifle Bore. The system is a Gentle Hydraulic push and the pressure immediately is gone when the case moves back and the Oil flows out around the displaced cartridge. A little time to clean and degrease with NO DAMAGE. HTH Regards, FITZ. OLD TUCK Smiley

OLD TUCK,

Thanks for additional insight! Reminded me of some guys that liked to load their 22CFs a bit above the high end of pressure curve and sooner or later got stuck cases that extractors were not up to the task, especially when they had to "hammer" the bolt open.

Fitz,
I watched a friend push a stuck bullet out of the bore on a guy's rifle using an empty case and a grease gun. He drilled and tapped the primer pocket of the empty case for a zerk fitting thread. Then made an extension to the fitting to extend it out the back of the bolt action rifle's receiver. He locked it in with a plate he fit into the extension to keep the case from backing out of the chamber.
Then he screwed in a zerk fitting in the end of the threaded extension and hooked a grease gun to it. He simply pumped the grease gun and the bullet came out the muzzle in very short time. Lots of grease to clean up, but it worked easily. I was impressed.

marlinguy, yes. That is the same as my procedure except takes a little more preparation. The bottom line is it keeps damaging tools out of the Bore. I have been able to perform
my procedure on the Line if there is a proper size Cast bullet available and a Can of three & one oil. I always have a small Hammer with a Plastic end in my Shooting Kit. Once it took two
Lead bullets driven down the Bore at the muzzle. But the stuck case came out neatly. And the two Bullets in the Muzzle pushed out easily from the Breach. Regards FITZ. OLD TUCK Smiley

The way to avoid upsetting a bullet stuck in the bore is to have the business end of the rod you're driving it out with be tubular, so that it only contacts a ring next to the bore wall.  That will not upset the bullet.  I only do this with lead bullets.  Might not work with jacketed.

uscra112, I hope you are right, never thought of that. Going to try it. Will get a Cast bullet stuck in a Case on purpose and see. If it works I will make a batch of Tips modified for different caliber Schuetzen Rifles. Then will be prepared for Lead at least. Thanks Fitz. OLD TUCK Smiley
