Can anyone tell me the year Remington changed the barrel markings on the Hepburns, right to left, and name change.

Thanks

The change from "E. REMINGTON & SONS" TO "REMINGTON ARMS CO." was done after bankruptcy and purchase by Marcellus Hartley and Win. The change showed up in 1889, after Hartley bought out Win. part.

They are located just in front of the forearm on the bottom of the barrel, just like Rolling Blocks, and other Remington single shots.
And "how" they were marked is with a stamp. If you needed the designations, I'd have to know the caliber in question. They varied a lot, even several marking ways for the same caliber over time.
My .40-70SS is marked ".40S" My .32-40 Ballard is marked ".32-40 B & M" My .45-70 is marked ".45 . 70"

"32.W" would be Rem.'s way of marking it. A .32-30 Rem used a similar marking of "32 1 5/8" or even "32.W 1 5/8" This latter is likely a .32-20W that the factory rechambered when someone ordered a .32-30 and the factory just rechambered it, and added the "1 5/8" to it.

Here are the caliber markings on my original Hepburns. I am fortunate to own 8 rifles. One was saved by becoming a varmint rifle .219 zipper.  The other are originals in fair to very good condition. Calibers are 38/50, 38/55 (2), 32/40 B&M, & 30/40 Krag.
You have got to love these rifles.
1st. 32-30 Remington
2nd.  32-20

Mine is marked:
"32. WIN.  C. F."  in front of forearm on bottom flat.
And also same under the forearm between the forearm
screw lug and front of receiver.

As you can see Arnie, Remington often changed the way they marked calibers on their barrels. Some caliber markings are more common than others, but for some calibers there are 3 or 4 different ways that Remington marked the barrels. Only consistent thing is where they put the marking. At least I haven't seen a factory caliber marking on a Hepburn that wasn't on the bottom flat in front of the forearm.

Thanks, Marlinguy and Kurt_701.
Helps with my recent fascination with the Rem Heps.
For several years now, I have been  shooting a BRG BPCR rebarrelled with a 8 twist Lilja barrel in cal 32-40 Rem Hep
for Schuetzen matches. I have the tight neck match  reamer, too. Formed, neck turned cases from R-P 303 Brits.
Working with 200 to 247 gr bullets.
