	passed one or more Gallstones so now I have spent a week in the hospital not a fun week & 1/2. they sent me home can't cut on me tell the kidney swelling goes down. ken

	Happened to me last Easter Sunday. The Docs (2) told me it was the most painful thing that does not kill you outright. Took me 17 days to get back to normal sleep routine. Hang in there. If you can pass the stones, you'll be OK.

	Beyond being painful most pain meds won't even take off the edge off at least they didn't work very well for me. Best of luck and I hope they get a handle on it very soon. JLouis

	Ken, Are they Gallstones or kidney stones? I ask because you mention kidney swelling. I haven't had gallstones but, I had 4 bouts of kidney stones, in 1.5 years, with 3 operations. I wish you well and know what you must be going through. Frank

	Had my gall bladder out about 10 yrs ago. Seems it died before me. I wonder how many other "spare parts" are in there? Aaron

I have had three kidney stones, no gallstones. If the Gallstones are even more pain, I can't imagine.

Aaron Gall bladder failing is a lot more common than most people know. My wife's failed early in her 30's, but doctors mis diagnosed it because she had pancreas dyvism, which is an unformed pancreas from childhood. They continued to treat her pancreas for almost 10 years, with numerous pancreas attacks. Then finally a female doctor told her she shouldn't be having all these pancreatitis attacks, and she tested her gall bladder. A few days later they removed her gall bladder and she's never had another pancreatitis attack.

	My gall bladder attack was Easter Sunday of 2017. Kidney stones was Easter of 2018. Done both. Kidney stones hurt worse, but it is a 9.875 compared with an 8.9. Both are best avoided, along with Easter. When my gall bladder failed, I thought I was having a heart attack.

	I had lithotripsy for an 11 mm kidney stone; it wasn't going anywhere but could seriously damage my kidney so: 2 Kw holmium YAG laser followed by a stent to hold things open so the blasted (literally) pieces could pass. I'm now on a meat restricted diet, 4 oz max a day plus urocit-K 15 meq twice a day slow release to raise urinary pH to inhibit formation of kidney stones. The urocit is not a covered prescription and is $125-150 a month for a few pennies worth of potassium citrate; not a bad racket for someone. I simply mix 15 meq of potassium citrate in 3L of water and try to get thru that for daytime and then take a pill to cover the nighttime hours. Cuts the price in half. When traveling I simply suck it up and do pills morning and night.

	desert-dude, Very interesting. I had a 20mm (yes 20) on my right side and a 10mm on my left. The rt side flared first, went to the ER, they found it and sent me to a Urologist, he blasted it and they said it was gone (right). A year later my lf side flared, they blasted it, then 6 more mo and the 7mm piece that they missed on the first blasting, flared up. The only good thing about that one, was they didn't have to put a tube in me to suck it out the pieces. One other torture that occurred, was a catheter, doubled back on itself and got stuck. They tried getting it out and then gave me pain meds and yanked it out But, I didn't get a stent or the potassium citrate. I was just told to drink much more water. They told me that mine were, most likely, caused from not drinking enough water. PM to follow. Frank
