In resizing the brass to make 25 rf  out of 17 WSM brass there seems to be a problem with the neck splitting. Can anyone advise if Federal or Winchester brass is better than the other or the same for this problem? Thanks.

What I found works the best or me, is to trim as short as possible first. I rough cut the case to 1.180”, then trim to square the mouth. It seems the cleaner and more uniform the mouth is the less I lose to splits. I also only size up one caliber at a time and square the mouth again if it starts looking ragged.

I only lose 1-2 a box and buy whatever is cheapest.
